Find everything you need to teach your students about the American Revolutionary War.

In this unit you will find:
1) Unit Plans - These plans outline the teachers specific guidelines on how to teach the lesson. Listed in the plans you will find the student objective, materials needed, teacher preparation required, and the steps on how to conduct the lesson.

2) Anchor Slides - These slides will help you teach specific content as described in the lesson plans. The unit plans indicate what slides to use for each lesson. The slides are provided in SMARTBoard, PowerPoint, PDF, and PNG image files.

3) Student Activity Packet (SAP)- This student activity packet that will be given to each student. In the packet there are activities and tasks that go along with each lesson. Often times, the anchor slides will mimic the content on the SAP pages.

4) Bulletin Board (BB) Set - This BB set will be added to throughout the unit. As students learn new concepts, you will add new pieces to the BB. It is meant to be a reference tool for students to review concepts learned.

5) Images of the Revolution - These picture cards will be used to kick off the unit in lesson 1

6) Liberty Poem - In lesson 1, students will be writing an acrostic poem and using this template as their final copy paper.

7) “The Revolution and Me” Article - This article will be used in lesson 2 to get students to start making connections about the war.

8) “That’s My Spot!” Game Board - This game will be played in lesson 2 as a way to help students understand the results of the French and Indian War.

9) “No Taxation Without Representation” Reader’s Theater - Students will learn about colony taxes in lesson 3 through this reader’s theater script.

10) Boston Tea Party New Article - After watching a short video, students will pretend to be a journalist during the Revolutionary war period and will write an article about the Boston Tea Party in lesson 6.

11) Dear King George Letter Template - Students will reenact the First Continental Congress by writing a letter to King George in lesson 7.

12) Patriots vs. Loyalist Sort- Students will learn to tell the difference between a loyalist and patriot with this sorting activity in lesson 8.

13) Major Events Learning Folders- This is a set of 6 learning centers that students will use in lessons 10 and 12. Editable versions are also available in a separate folder titled “Editable Major Events Forms” in case your state requires you to cover specific events.

14) The Declaration of Independence: A Summary- This activity sheet puts the major points of the Declaration of Independence in kid-friendly language. It will be used in lesson 11.

15) “We The People” Class Book - In lesson 11, students will illustrate the major points of the Declaration of Independence by creating a class book.

16) “Let There Be Peace Again” Article- This article teaches about the Treaty of Paris and will be used in lesson 13.

17) American Revolutionary “SCOOT!” - This game will be used as a whole-class unit review to help students study for the final unit assessment. It will be used in lesson 14.

18) Unit Assessment - This assessment will monitor students’ learning for the entire unit. An answer key is provided for easy grading. It will be used in lesson 15.

19) BONUS RESOURCE- Digital Learning Guide and Student Flipbook - This learning guide is a digital resource that helps teach students about the major events and battles of the Revolutionary War. This resource is sold separately HERE , but is included in this full unit at no extra charge!
