This is a 38 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on the American Revolutionary War – The Conway Cabal. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides to the presentation as needed.

History has said very little about George Washington’s enemies within the colonies, but he had then and they were formidable, especially during the fall of 1777. His three biggest detractors included Horatio Gates, an American general, Benjamin Rush, the highly esteemed "Father of American Medicine," and a certain ambitious foreign officer named Thomas Conway.

They were all extremely critical of Washington's handling of the war and they all wanted him replaced. Whether they united deliberately to form a "cabal," or plot, is debatable; regardless, their sniping, griping, and deeds have come to be known as the "Conway Cabal."

In late October 1777, Conway wrote a letter to General Gates which would bring the situation to a boil. It contained the following paragraph: "Heaven has been determiend to save your Country; or a weak General and bad Coucellors would have ruined it."

This presentation revolves around that letter and other activities of “the Cabal” who were trying get George Washington fired and replaced by Horatio Gates. The slides cover the following:
