These are seven pictures of important events about the Revolutionary War that I use to introduce it to my class. They include paintings of the French and Indian War, Ben Franklin's "Join or Die" drawing, the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, signing of the Declaration of Independence, the battles at Lexington/Concord, and a group of people attacking an effigy of a tax collector. We do a "carousel" activity at the beginning of the unit, just examining the pictures and writing down what we see in each. At the end of the unit, we revisit the pictures, and put them in order, and groups of students explain what is going on in each picture and why it is happening or what it means. Kids love this!
