    Bundle Description

    The goal of the American Symbols Unit is that through this unit, the student will recognize and appreciate the common American symbols that represent or stand for the unique characteristics of freedom, unity, and Christian principles that make America special and contribute to the national identity, and will identify and value the traditional practices that honor and foster patriotism in the United States. This scope and sequence includes a unit goal, the big idea, standards, unit objectives, and the unit assessment plan. Their are 10 lessons outlined in this scope and sequence. Each lesson focuses on a particular American Symbol such as an introduction to symbols, the American Flag, The Coat of Arms of the United States, the Great Seal, Symbols on a dollar bill, the Liberty Bell, The Statue of Liberty, The Lincoln Memorial, and the unit ends with a culminating activity.
