Description

American Symbols {Statue of Liberty, American Flag, Mount Rushmore} Writing Prompt Craftivities (86 pages)--a fun way to add a craft and a writing prompt to your next social studies lesson.

There is a craftivity for each of the following: the Statue of Liberty, the United States Flag, and Mount Rushmore. You'll find tons of prompts about these symbols and you'll be able to use these on Flag Day, Memorial Day, Presidents' Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day too!

You have lots of options. For each American symbol, there is a cover page that includes the symbol's name. Then there is a fact sheet about each symbol that you can use as a classroom poster. Then you'll find multiple writing prompts that could be used for creative writing, reports, or simple writing ideas in literacy centers. These are prompts that you can print "as is" and the student will color or paint the symbol and write on the topic.

Next, you will find the same topics formatted for a page topper. If you choose these prompts, add the symbol to those prompts. You can either print these symbols on colored paper or ask your students to color or paint them. The final product looks super and it gets students interested in writing about social studies topics.

The last three items for each symbol are graphic organizers to help with the writing process. Each item has a clustering/web word organizer, a KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) chart, and a special graphic organizer just for American symbols.
