To truly understand the news and many of our laws, concerns, and ideas, students need to develop a deeper understanding of many of our American tragedies ranging from the assassination of President Lincoln to the September 11, 2001 events. The list also includes physical disasters from the Great Chicago Fire to the Eruption of Mount St. Helens.
This project is designed so that individuals and/or groups become “experts” in a tragedy and then present it to the class. The design allows the completion in small increments that aid in learning to plan projects and ease of grading.
The American Tragedy project packet includes the following:
Teacher notes with ideas on choices, planning, grading, and assessments.
American Tragedy Assignment List ready to just plug in the student or group names.
Student packet that includes an overview, guidelines, assignment specifics, three small turn in rubrics, final presentation rubric, and a presentation practice sheet.
So with the addition of due dates and perhaps a few personal changes you are ready to get started! Both you and your students will enhance your learning!
