This comprehensive study guide breaks the content of American History 2* into eight units, beginning with the Gilded Age and ending with the Election of 2008. Each unit is subdivided into 30 key concepts for review (except for Unit 8, which includes 22 concepts).
The units are divided as follows:
1. The Gilded Age
2. The Progressive Era
3. Rise of Imperialism through World War I
4. The Roaring 20s and Great Depression
5. World War II and the Beginning of the Cold War
6. The 1950s, 1960s, and the Vietnam War
7. The 1970s, 1980s, and the End of the Cold War
8. The 1990s to Present Day
For final exam review, I go through one unit a day with students. I have created a powerpoint to accompany each unit as I review it. I also give students a review quiz after reviewing each unit. This method takes eight days and has resulted in test scores that are the best in my school district.
*This study guide was developed to align to North Carolina's "American History 2" curriculum, but I believe it to be applicable to any history curriculum that divides the history of the United States into two halves.
