Product Description

This presentation contains a 55 slide PowerPoint lesson in editable PPT format with a Teacher’s note included.
I had to explain to a student what a Twinkie was (he saw it in a film), and realized that you can probably teach a lot about American culture through its unique desserts.
Every culture has its own desserts. The USA is a melting pot of immigrants and its desserts very much reflect that.
I gathered every classic American dessert I could think of (who knew there were so many…) with some interesting history of the desserts, in the form of a quiz – see the photo, guess the dessert.
I was surprised, how few desserts, non Americans, actually recognized.
I added you tube commercial clips of desserts from the 60’s to the 80’s, (for me they are sentimental) for the students they make for a good laugh and they give a picture of what ‘TV life’ was like back then.
IMPORTANT ! When you’re giving this lesson, make sure you bring some snacks to class, the images will make everyone hungry.
I hope you enjoy this lesson
