Description

This is a week-long unit by Reading Through History that is geared toward reading test preparation for the 5th grade reading test. This download includes lessons covering some of America's most famous tall tales and how they came into being. The readings include Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, and John Henry. The download also includes 15 pages of student activities that involve: constructed response paragraphs, vocabulary activities, a timeline activity, and multiple choice quizzes to gauge reading comprehension. Every reading topic also includes questions geared toward the 4th and 5th grade Common Core literature and reading standards. Objectives include Key Ideas, Range of Reading, Key Ideas and Details, Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity, Writing, and Fluency. The packet includes everything a reading teacher would need to cover four to five days worth of class.
