Translation to the text of "Amor de mi alma," by Z. Randall Stroope. The text appears to be selections from a poem, "Soneto V" by Garcilaso de la Vega. When I was dissatisfied with the translation offered in the original octavo of "Amor de mi alma," I chose to translate myself-using some Spanish knowledge, and some reliable Spanish-English dictionaries. As this piece is incredibly emotive and frequently performed, it would help performers tremendously to understand what exactly they are singing. This translation is less poetic, as in the published octavo, and more word-by-word. This product offers Spanish text with the English right below it. Red letters are what appeared to me to be errors in the Spanish text written in the octavo. Hope this helps anyone ready to perform this piece!
