Pg. 7-8 Roll and Spell – roll the dice to see how many times to write each spelling word
Pg. 9-11 My Comprehension Flip It! – fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – answer the questions and illustrate to show your understanding of the story
Pg. 12-13 Write and Respond – Don’t Give Up… Was there a time that you had to keep trying to accomplish something? Amphibian Alert! A threat to amphibians and how we can solve it. Discuss one of the threats to amphibians.
Pg. 14-22 Main Idea and Detail – a writing and craft activity – copy the book cover – copy pages A and B back to back – cut down the middle to make two books for two students – fold and staple in the middle to form a book – copy off the patterns for the frog pocket onto the appropriate colored construction paper – glue the half circle for a pocket just gluing around the outer edges – attach eyes and tongue – roll the tongue on a pencil to curl it – add the book to the pocket and hang in the hall
Pg. 23-24 Analogies! – a foldable book – write and illustrate your book with three different analogies
Pg. 25-27 Flip a Coin for Comparisons! – copy pages A and B back to back, flip your coin and follow the directions for heads and tails – either use –er or –est in your sentences in the first box or use more or most with –ly adverbs in your sentences in the second box
Pg. 28-35 My Frog Fable – writing and craft activity - write your own frog fable- copy patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper – copy off the title page and as many writing pages as needed – cut the papers out and staple them to the frog’s body before gluing the head on – put together as seen in the example
