Looking for a way to teach a famous, creepy, and awesome short story by Edgar Allan Poe in a way that's not so scary to students? Look no further than this abridged version with audio accompaniment and discussion questions.
This version of Poe's "The Black Cat" has been modified to match up to Christopher Lee's chilling BBC audio recording of the story. Discussion questions for your class to respond to have been woven into the story. I recommend playing the audio aloud to your whole class and pausing to talk about the questions in small groups/as a whole class.
The audio version of the story is about 15 minutes but, with discussions included, I'd estimate this as a 25 minute activity.
This story and a letter form me comes in a compressed zip file. Here's a quick link for help if you're not sure how to open it: http://www.wikihow.com/Open-a-.Zip-File-Without-Winzip
