Key topics in environmental science and health are covered in this interactive power point presentation on the ozone layer. The destruction of the ozone layer and man's use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's), volatile organic compounds, and fire extinguishers is presented in this 11 slide power point. Students are asked their opinions on some slides, and to explain pictures on others. Questions asked and answered include: What is the ozone layer? Where is it? Why is it important? How are we as humans affecting it? What is our government doing to protect us?
Pictures in the presentation include: the ozone layer in 1979 and 2015, atmospheric layers, chemistry of ozone, and more. Credits are included.
If you want a complete lesson, there is a reading activity on ozone in my list that I use as bellwork prior to the power point.
Last, a ticket out the door is include as slide 11. Additional information and directions are found in the comment section of the slides that assist you with class discussions and background information.
