This is the standard hand-out I use to teach color theory:
In it, I define various color principals in understandable but descriptive terms. Because many students are visual learners, I also provide illustrated examples of each principal and discuss how the techniques can be applied to finished artworks.
Use this hand out as an alternative to expensive color-mixing text books, or use it to compliment any color theory project.
This hand-out covers:
-Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Colors
-Tints and Shades
-Warm and Cool Colors + how to use them.
-Complementary Colors + how to use them.
With just 4 pages and loaded with pictures, this hand-out is easily digestible for students with short attention spans. However, its thorough enough to stand on its own.
Print it onto transparencies for class lectures, or enlarge and print it for display.
