PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This formal lesson plan introduces the expository text structure of comparison. It consists of subject, standard, behavioral objective, anticipatory set, final objective, purpose, participation (guided practice), check for understanding, closure activity, and independent practice. Included are short nonfiction texts about the differences between erosion and deposition, glaciers, and the differences between fungi and plants (all fourth grade science topics). Venn diagram graphic organizers, classwork, and homework are also included. The specific Common Core Standard this lesson covers is: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.4.5- Describe the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in a text or part of a text. It introduces the expository text structure of comparison only.
