PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is part of a culture and identity unit that my students complete. Part of the emphasis of the unit is that students think about how their cultures have affected their identities. This assignment asks them to write a letter to their hometowns in an effort to examine how their hometowns have shaped who they are today. This is something college students are fond of doing, and you will find many examples of open letters to hometowns. I use the examples to help my students get started. This does not include a rubric because I use the state mandated rubric, but if you have a rubric for a letter on hand that would be good to use, too. This details the assignment for the students, gives them the writing progression, and gives them questions to think about as a pre-writing activity.
