Product Description
This piece was written to describe the role of the speech-langauge pathologist in literacy and to explain the process and thinking behind structured word inquiry. It is not a program, it is an example of using the scientific method to study the structure and meaning of words. Using this approach leads to an increase of literacy skills for all who participate. Spelling makes sense as do words we only thought we understood. The history of words come alive and we find each word or family of words have an interesting story to tell. There is no memorisation required here! There are no bogus rules presented that have long lists of exceptions. What you will find is a way to make sense of the structure of our English language. Students who previously struggled will actually begin to learn. Students who read readily will grow their vocabulary exponentially.
