This Webquest has students explore the life of Mexican Olympic athlete and Senator Ana Guevara through four video clips: her silver-medal race in Athens in 2004 (Spanish), a Nike ad featuring her in 2010 (Spanish), her political ad in 2012 (Spanish), and a slightly longer (6 minutes) feature on her (English and Spanish) from The Guardian in 2015. Created for Día Internacional de la Mujer (March 8th), the lesson can be used then or anytime to inspire students and get them thinking about who they want to be. There is an optional add-on at the end for students to brainstorm other inspiring women, research them, and make short presentations to their group about who they are. Video C (the political ad) includes many young people talking about why Guevara inspires them and then has personal questions for the students. Pair-sharing would work well here. Link to editable 3 page Google Doc included (or for posting on Google Classroom). Should work for any level! (as a challenging but doable assignment for Spanish 1 through AP). Time needed to complete will vary depending on level (longer for level 1 as they repeat video clips, etc).
