Analogies For Young Learners
Analogies are found in most standardized tests. They are an everyday occurrence in our conversations, in metaphors and sayings. Why is it important for children to learn analogies? Learning analogies helps children in problem solving, decision making, perception, memory, communication and reasoning. Being able to analogize also affects a child's emotion and creativity.
This unit includes lesson plans for teaching analogies to young learners. The unit also includes an anchor chart showing the different representations of analogies, picture analogy cards, worksheets, and assessment sheets for testing a child's understanding and usage of analogies.
