PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will gain a better understanding of how homeostasis and negative feedback help the endocrine system. Definitions of homeostasis and negative feedback are included. There is also an explanation of how negative feedback works. The example used to model the activity is an analogy of how the thermostat regulates heat to keep the house a steady temperature. Students are given four additional scenarios to write about. They must state what homeostasis would be in each scenario and the action that displays negative feedback to get back to its level of homeostasis. As a conclusion, students must develop their own analogy of how negative feedback could maintain homeostasis. Students should be encouraged to think outside of the box and think about their everyday lives. Taking ownership of the scenario will help make the idea their own and allow students to gain a better understanding of the mechanism that helps the Endocrine System function.
