This activity is designed to help improve understanding and accuracy with analogies. Analogies appear on many standardized tests and students often answer quickly without thinking about the relationship. Analogies are also a great way to expand your students' vocabulary. This set can be completed by students alone or in small group settings. I use in speech therapy. Relationships included in this easier level are: synonym, antonym, person/object, object/action, part/whole.
This activity includes:
*relationship mats: Use for sorting and teaching.
*analogy cards: Sort cards onto mat with appropriate relationship. ***You can also read to the student and leave off the final word for more practice completing analogies.
*’complete the analogy’ worksheet: Fill in the blank with an appropriate answer based on the correct relationship.
*matching worksheet: Connect the analogy to the appropriate relationship.
*chart worksheet: Fill out the chart and use the words to have the students make analogies.
