In this assignment, students analyze Montresor's point of view. Montresor, the narrator of "The Cask of Amontillado," holds a grudge, which fuels him to carry out an evil act of revenge. The students must assess Montresor's first-person point of view--is his account of wrongs done reliable, or unreliable? Might Montresor be manipulating the truth, or are there reasons to believe his account of the situation?
The packet includes an assignment sheet, a detailed rubric, and a guiding outline. Additionally, a modified outline (like a template) is included, which offers additional support for students with such needs.
