Encourage students to work on analytical skills while working with some of Benjamin Franklin's famous quotes.
This is a two-part assignment. First, students will evaluate the meaning of Franklin's aphorisms and work on creating one of their own.
The second assignment can function as a stand-alone assessment or as an organizer to support a paragraph or essay. This requires students to take an in-depth look at the aphorism, the author's intent, and the audience's reaction.
