I put this activity together using the debate articles in the "Upfront" Scholastic Magazines, but you can use any type of article for this activity. I usually copy the article and put it inside the packet, so it's all together in this one assignment. If you wanted, you can have them find their own article or read one online. Usually, the Upfront articles have two sides to an argument, which is why there are two pages of the broken paragraphs and two columns in the chart. You can delete the extra pages if you only want to focus on one article/argument.
At my school, we use ACES to explain how to write a complete paragraph using evidence.
