PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This PARCC-style assessment merges commercials, political cartoons, and literary texts into a performance assessment. Students will construct an explanatory essay to justify their explanations. Students will analyze 2 modern commercials and 2 political cartoons that use situational and verbal irony and analyze. In the second section of the performance task, students will analyze the development of irony in a literary text and discuss similarities and differences between the author’s approaches in the literary selection, commercials, and political cartoons. They will construct an explanatory essay that develops their analysis including textual evidence to justify their position.
