This is great for a current events class and/or a social studies class to get a handle on network news programs and how they report the news. I use it before I have them do their own network news show (See: "Students Do The News"), so they can see how the segue from one topic to another are handled. It allows to analyze all aspects of the actions and network stage, in order to reproduce them for your own classroom news hour. In addition, this brings the students attention to the demographics that each news show is catering to. It's a great homework assignment and also excellent for a specific news story that you want to see how the networks cover the story. For example, it shows up bias if you are on a conservative vs. liberal station.
