This is a great resource (2 included) to support students capacity to analyze claims (very important literacy skill and useful to support the CCSS and critical thinking in general). I use the word claim, but use whatever language is specific to your context as not to confuse students with “teacher-speak”. For example, your district may use the word argument, controlling idea, thesis, etc. instead of claim. These two graphic organizers help students determine the strengthens and weakens of claims in order to assess the validity. I also included some simple, yet very helpful sentence starters for students who may struggle with how to present their assessment of the claim. The price is low and this resources can be used across grade levels and content areas at any point during the year!
