Product Description
As a teacher, how much do you just LOVE to see the little wheels turning in your students’ minds??? My Social Studies classroom was transformed when I started to implement analysis into our lessons. I created these Graphic Organizers to help guide your students in analyzing historical pieces. Not only do the organizers serve as a guide, but they’re also a place for them to record what they are thinking. The Bundle Pack includes a FREEBIE Exit Ticket and the following organizers:

** PICTURE ANALYSIS ** (3 pages)
This Graphic Organizer includes the three important parts to analyzing photographs: Making Observations, Making Inferences, and Asking Questions. Since making inferences can be difficult for the younger grades, I’ve included sentence starters that can help your students with writing those.
*-* My FAVORITE way to use: *-*
Find multiple pictures that represent your topic, split the kids into groups, and give each group a different picture to analyze. Then, come back together, share their pictures and analysis information, and then discuss how all the pictures are related.

** DOCUMENT ANALYSIS ** (2 pages)
This Graphic Organizer includes the following parts: identifying type of document / date / author / intended audience, unique physical characteristics, document information, why it was written & evidence to support that, connecting the document to life in the US at the time it was written, question to the author, and student opinion of most important part and why.
*-* My FAVORITE way to use: *-*
Collect multiple documents that are all related to your teaching topic, split students into groups, and have each group analyze a different document. Come back together and discuss similarities and differences between documents.

** ARTIFACT ANALYSIS ** (3 pages)
This Graphic Organizer includes the following parts: identifying type of artifact, special qualities (size, texture, etc.), uses (who, what, when, and where), connections, technology connection, connecting the artifact to life/people @ the time it was made, and similar item that’s used today.
*-* My FAVORITE way to use: *-*
Collect multiple artifacts that are all related to your teaching topic, split students into groups, and then each group analyzes a different artifact. Come back together and discuss their artifact and how all the artifacts are related to each other. Example: If you’re studying Life in the Colonies, then you want your students to be able to synthesize and see that the “main idea” for all of the artifacts is…..Colonial Life!

** CARTOON ANALYSIS ** (3 pages)
This Graphic Organizer includes the following parts: identifying the objects, people, title/caption, & important numbers/dates, symbolism & meaning, significant words/phrases, adjectives describing emotions & actions, overall message, and identifying people/groups who would agree or disagree with the cartoon’s message and why.
*-* My FAVORITE way to use: *-*
Collect multiple political cartoons that are about the same topic, but show different perspectives or point of views. This always leads to great discussions and debates among your students.

I have included a 4 page preview (FULL pages) so that way you know exactly the quality of work you are purchasing. Please ask any and all questions before you purchase this product. The Analysis Graphic Organizers can be purchased individually from my store, but you get a much better deal if you go with the Bundle Pack!

I’ve also decided to throw in a FREEBIE Exit Ticket with this purchase. It’s included in the Bundle Pack and can be used in any content area.

Happy Teaching!!
