What students love about legends is that the stories seem so true, they can't decide if the event actually happened or not! But once they study them and find that ONE magical/unexplained element, they begin to understand the genre better.
Students will read ANY legend of your/their choice at any reading level. They will then use these analysis pages which include sentence starters and check-mark choices in order to reflect on their legend. They will analyze the point of view, author's purpose, literary/story elements, and they will record the "legendary" elements that were present in their text. But wait! They will add text evidence and explanations for their answers and choices. Designed for multiple uses, multi-use.
Flexible use options:
-use for whole class/small groups
-use for independent reading/SSR/DEAR

-use for HW, as part of a project or packet, or as a book report
