If your students are reading autobiographical incidents or personal narratives then these pages are a must: They can be paired with student-written narratives or with professionally written narratives from texts or text-books!!
These are flexible pages that can be paired with reading and/or writing. For example, students may be reading shorter narratives in their text-book/anthology and these pages will give them a purpose for reading and analyzing. These printables can even be used with writing. For instance, if students are writing a personal narrative, their partner [or the writer/author] can use these pages to be sure the narrative has all of the necessary elements-students can even use it to evaluate their very own narratives.
Students will fill in sentence starters that define personal narrative/autobiographical incident [as defined by the teacher]; they will analyze first person point of view; and they will define the elements most often related to this type of writing: setting, incident, reaction, and reflection. They will note these elements with sentence starters then quote the text evidence.
