Product Description
The following two-page handout encourages students to analyze six passages from Khaled Hosseini's novel "The Kite Runner" and correctly identify the literary devices used in his style and to assert how these devices affect the reader and create meaning. An example at the beginning shows students how to do the process on their own with some lyrics from a pop-punk band. The worksheet can be completed independently or teachers can have students work in small groups and present their findings or their analysis to the class collectively. It's a great mini-lesson on literature analysis that ties into public speaking and/or writing assessments that can serve as formative assessments to prepare students for an upcoming summative assessment of an essay.
