This is a great activity to help students understand the Populist Party in America in the late 1800's. It includes 4 primary source political cartoons that students analyze in groups or on their own using a 2-page worksheet.
The worksheet includes an introduction that explains the background of the Populist Party and their platform. It then moves on to a set of questions for each cartoon that help students to analyze the symbolism and meaning of each. Finally, a conclusion asks students to determine the general perception of the Populist Party based on the cartoons.
This is a great way to hit Common Core Standards on determining the central ideas of a primary source!
