This zip file contains two parts: a short list of questions (5 total) for students to focus on as they look at each image of propaganda, and a pdf file of 9 posters from the U.S, Germany, and Russia, although most are American. Prior to this activity students should have an understanding of what propaganda is and how it is used to guide behavior. This has proven to be a highlight for my students, with many telling me after that this was one of their favorite activities in my class. It also opens up opportunities for group/partner discussion of the posters as well as whole group closing activities - at the discretion of the teacher and as time allows.
Note: The student question sheet includes a link to an excellent PBS source which describes various propaganda techniques. It may be useful to print this for students and review it prior to beginning the activity.
