Struggling to find engaging speeches? Need another speech to analyze but tired of the same old presidential ones? Starting a lesson on Anthem by Ayn Rand and need a speech that hits the concepts of individualism and collectivism?

I answered yes to all three of those questions, and so I created this handout to address those issues. The lesson focuses on the November 5th Revolutionary Speech that V delivers in the movie V for Vendetta. It asks the students to watch the video clip, read the speech (optional), and answer the questions.

This listing includes:

  • student handout
  • text of the speech
  • answer key

This lesson includes 10 open ended questions that address

  • individualism
  • collectivism
  • rhetorical devices
  • comprehension
  • context
  • call to action

The link for the video can be found on YouTube here. Or if you want to view the whole movie, you can do so here.

If you're interested in how I used this worksheet in a lesson I taught about collectivism and individualism, you can visit my blog here.
