This resource is a multi disciplinary tool to help students understand the theme of conflicts in both life and literature. It provides students with a guide for outlining a current event that revolves around a problem in the news. It also includes a group activity to get the students working together using their information to discuss both current events, conflicts, conflict resolutions, and the overall theme "Can All Conflicts Be Resolved?". Students would complete the current event research either prior to class or as a class activity. The group work would then be a separate full class day. This is great if you want to tie in a "Big Question" about conflicts, or if you just want to get students looking at and thinking about how problems arise and how they can be solved.
