This activity provides an opportunity for students to compare the works of famous rapper J. Cole and Ishmael Beah. Students will begin by answer questions regarding A Long Way Gone and what Beah's intentions are as far as his theme. Next students will be given background information about the A Tale of Two Cities and its connection to J. Cole's song A Tale of 2 Citiez. Students should be given the opportunity to listen to the song while reading the lyrics. They have room beside the lyrics to analyze for Literary elements and figurative language. Following the song there are questions that coordinate discussion for comparing the themes.
