Use this WebQuest for students to explore cancer and how it is related to cells in the human body. In an Anatomy curriculum, this fits perfectly at the end of the Histology (Tissue) Unit and allows students to research a cancer of their own choosing! Students begin by learning about different stages of cancer, vocabulary associated with cancer, and risk factors. The last activity is a partner conference activity which allows students to share what they learned about the cancer they chose to research. This activity lasts approximately two class periods. The following objectives are goals for students in this activity:
· Describe the connection between tissues and various types of cancers.
· Define cancer, risk factors, and how it is spread.
· Choose one type of cancer to identify the following:
o How it is diagnosed
o Anatomical description of the disease
o ONE current research paper related to your disorder
