In this project, students create a Power Point or Prezi to present a health related career to the class. Alone or in pairs, students research the job duties and salary of a health career. They also research 2 schools that offer training in the field and learn the GPA and test score requirements for entrance into the programs. After the presentations, I have my students reflect on what they learned and write about the career that most interested them.
The file includes a 1 page project description with the requirements outlined. It can be modified to fit your course. Pages 2 and 3 are a grading rubric for the project. The "additive rubric" starts students with an 80%, and the score is raised and lowered by student performance in each category. A student with an overall "Proficient" project will earn a B, while "Basic" and "Below Basic" categories will lower the grade accordingly. To earn an A, students must go above and beyond "Proficient" into the "Advanced" expectations.
