Product Description

I use these anchor charts at beginning of the year to introduce letter knowledge, handwriting, and phonics. I do this activity during my interactive writing time. Each student has a white board and marker. I will show the students the letter poster I am teaching that day, teach them the letter name and sound, show them the movement (I have movements that represent the sound of each letter), we talk about how our mouth looks when we say that letter, and then I show them the strokes used to write the letter. The students then copy my strokes. I walk around the room ensuring that each child is trying to replicate my strokes. If not, I try to correct them. Then I use the activity below to add to the anchor chart and I label it. Then I hang up the anchor chart (this comes in handy for small group games, large group games, writing workshop, independent writing, and interactive writing throughout the first semester.
