I hope that these anchor charts and activities will help guide you as you implement the Common Core standards in your classroom. I made these for my own classroom use, and my hope is that they will lessen your workload and be useful to you in some way.
Each page can be used as a poster to display in your classroom, as an anchor chart to guide mini lessons, printed to keep in a binder for your reference, as handouts for students, or any other way that you see fit.
The handouts are intentionally low on graphics in black and white to be printer friendly. In addition, they are generally kept to a simple one page layout that includes the Common Core standard, essential question, and simple instructional tools including examples, vocabulary, guiding questions, stems, or tables.
I’ve also included some interactive components such as an SWBS foldable (fold along the line and cut the four flaps apart); reading passages with questions; and graphic organizers. The idea was to be able to use most of these with any text you are using in your classroom or any independent book your students may be reading.
There are a total of 23 usable pages covering the following fifth-grade common core reading standards: RL.5.1, RL.5.2, RL.5.3, RL5.4, RL5.5, RL5.6, RL5.7 and RL5.9.
