This lesson includes 9 great buildings from the ancient world. They are the Egyptian pyramids at Giza, Mayan Pyramids, Aztec Pyramids, a Mesopotamian ziggurat, the Parthenon, an Islamic Mosque from the 12th century, the Terra Cotta army of China, the Arch of Constantine of Rome and the Angkor Wat complex of Cambodia. There is also a short reading on the nature of architecture. Each building has two hyperlinks, one to a brief reading and the other to a video tour (either Google Street View or a short Youtube video). After viewing/reading about the building, the student is asked to answer some brief guiding questions. After viewing all three sections (Pyramids, Temples, Monuments), the student is given directions to combine the previous answers into a final written response in the form of a paragraph.
