Product Description
This is a 21 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on Ancient Civilizations - The Origins of Agriculture. Each of the slides are editable so you can change it to fit your individual needs.

The Neolithic Revolution, sometimes called the Agricultural Revolution, was the wide-scale transition of many human cultures from a lifestyle of hunting and gathering to one of agriculture and settlement, allowing the ability to support an increasingly large population.

The domestication of various types of plants and animals evolved in separate locations worldwide, around 12,000 years ago. It was the world's first historically verifiable revolution in agriculture. Because cultivation of plants requires more labor than hunting and gathering, we can assume that Stone Age humans gave up their former ways of life reluctantly and slowly.

Between about 8000 and 3500 BC, increasing numbers of humans shifted to dependence on cultivated crops and domesticated animals for their subsistence. By 7000 BC, tools and skills had advanced to the point that it could support towns with over 1,000 people, such as Jericho in the Jordan River Valley. By 3500 BC, agricultural people in the Middle East could support sufficient numbers of non-cultivating workers to give rise to the first civilizations.
