This PowerPoint presentation will teach 6th grade students about three important environmental factors that affected settlement in Ancient Egypt: Water, Topography, and Vegetation. After learning definitions of these words (along with seeing accompanying photographs), students will assess the importance of these environmental factors and how/why they would have played a role in where people settled in ancient times. Worksheet included so students can follow along with PowerPoint. Breaks for discussion included in PowerPoint. The last five slides have also been included as a segue into the PEOPLE who settled in these areas and the breakdown of the three main kingdoms of Ancient Egypt (Old, Middle, New). This will also give students an opportunity to practice timeline plotting on their worksheets, as they graph the time periods for each kingdom. The PowerPoint and worksheet can be easily modified if you would like to end the presentation after environmental factors (just do not include second side of worksheet). All information from this presentation can be found in the textbook TCI History Alive! The Ancient World. I hope you enjoy this resource!
