Travel back in time to the Ancient Egypt civilization with your students, and help them connect the dots between this important history theme and literacy with my Label and Color activity! Sometimes these broad history topics can go over the young students' heads, but adding in literacy activities will help them wrap their little minds around the theme!
You, the teacher, get to differentiate this activity based on your students' needs, all while keeping the peace in your classroom with the same picture they get to color when they are finished with this brain workout!
Students will label the picture, the best they can, by sounding out the words and either writing the beginning sound of each word, or the whole word the best they can. It is NOT about perfection; it's about pushing them to get what's in their minds down on paper. This is such an important skill for students- and this worksheet keeps it fun, and gives them the reward of coloring the picture once they finish the hard part!
Use this during your Egypt theme, or as a literacy center anytime in the year! Engage your little learners, assess their phonemic awareness, and connect the dots! My students look forward to these activities, as they get to express their creativity. I look forward to them, as I get to assess my students' phonics levels!
