I love this project! If your students are learning about Egypt, this project is a must! I use this project with my 6th grade history class each year. Included is a rubric explanation summary, a rubric for the objects they will create, the food they will make, and the character they will become. I usually give up to four weeks to complete the project.
The students choose from a preselected list of real life ancient Egyptian people (included as well). Then, they research their character at home so they can "become" that character for a mock round table meeting. On project day, they come in with their pyramids, objects, letters, food, and costumes.
I give them papyrus paper and we write the hieroglyphic letters in class. They each write a letter to someone else's character in the class.
