Product Description

History comes to life in this engaging, interactive simulation where students compete against other groups to develop the largest, most successful Egyptian civilization. Students complete a variety of activities to experience life in each of the Egyptian social classes: pharaoh, government officials, priests, scribes, artisans, and peasants. If students are successful in a challenge, they gain population cards. However, if they are unsuccessful, they lose members of their population!

Challenges in this survival simulation include:

* Creating a pyramid with equal sides that meet at a point

* Using a VR app, escaping the tunnels under a tomb by finding artifacts

* Reading Egyptian numbers to collect taxes correctly

* Following the steps of mummification to mummify a stuffed animal

* Translating clues in Egyptian hieroglyphics to find a ransom note for the pharaoh's wife

* Using Egyptian drawing rules, creating images of the building administrators

* Researching and creating tools used by Egyptian peasants

The lesson starts with an introduction to each of the social classes, and then students complete the various challenges.

Included with this product is a PowerPoint presentation that guides the teacher and the students through each of the challenges. There is also a teacher guide with step-by-step directions for the teacher.

This activity is NOT a normal lesson! Students are actually experiencing life in Ancient Egypt. They walk away with a solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each social class, as well as a fun, memorable experience.
