This ancient Egypt video documentary is a fascinating and cleverly crafted dramatization that follows an ancient scroll from its creation almost 4,000 year ago to its rediscovery in 1887 by a questionable fellow who was both respected and viewed by many as a thief. This remarkable video will keep your students on the edge of their seats, anxious to learn more about the fate of the scroll. The costumes, acting, lighting, backdrops, props, and scenery are very well done and because it is a true story with an intriguing plot, it flows more as a movie than it does an “educational video”. Students will learn a great deal about many aspects of ancient Egypt while being entertained.
Find out why Biblical scholars agree that portions of the Old Testament are directly descended from the Egyptian text, and why some archaeologists argue that Moses must have carried a copy of it with him when he fled Egypt. The video also reveals the reason why the Egyptians built the pyramids.
This video runs approximately one hour and is appropriate for students grades 5 and above. A perfect activity to supplement the study of Egypt, nonfiction analysis, or documentaries.
