This is one choice I offer students when we are in our project portion of our Ancient Greece unit. It is a great way to familiarize students with issues from Ancient Greece or introduce a modern topic while using the Greeks method of debate to gain support for each individual's viewpoint. Students are to pick a partner and debate an issue. They are to research the issue, come up with at least (3) facts and/or figures to support their side of the debate, cite sources, practice their point of view, and present it to the whole class. When I offer group projects, I try to use a variety of methods so that all students can be successful. Students may initially think this is an easy project, but it does involve research and practice to present their ideas clearly to the class. There is a rubric included.
