PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The following is a common core-based lesson/worksheet on ancient Athens that focuses on whether or not the city-state of Athens was truly a democracy.

In small groups, students are presented with a series of primary and secondary source documents offering both sides of the issue. Students analyze each document and discuss and answer a series of questions. After this process is completed, the group creates a thesis statement that answers the question, "Was the city-state of Athens truly a democracy?" For homework, students will write a DBQ-based paragraph that uses the group-created thesis statement and supporting evidence to answer the question.

NEW! DBQ Paragraph Assignment with rubric included.
