80.69 MB | 90 Smart Notebook - 5-8 Handouts - Videos Etc. pages
This is a GREAT deal! It is an entire unit on Ancient Greece.
Included in this download is a 90 page Smart Notebook presentation. This presentation can be used throughout the entire lesson, it discusses the location and geography of Ancient Greece; who the people were and what they did (role of women and men); Education; Government; Clothing; Food; Theatre; Architecture; Olympics; Gods Inventions and MORE!
The presentation has many links to relevant websites that have videos, activities, games – all of which are interactive and can be done in groups or as a class. This is a great way to break up the “Teacher-Just-Talking” lessons, and allows for interaction with the students to show them how Ancient Greece worked.
In this download there are also multiple handouts that have been created in Microsoft Publisher to go along with the presentation, so the students have copies of the important information.
Some of these activities include a picture-matching game, websites that show interactive fun facts and interactive quizzes.
A great activity I did with my class, which is only shown in a few slides as its not part of the presentation, is recreating the Agora Market. I purchased several different “Greek” foodstuffs (olives, feta cheese, peppers, “fig” newtons, grapes, breads, etc.) and set up the classroom as a market. We split the class into different groups, giving each group certain foodstuffs. We tried to keep it equal by giving some of the less desired things with the more desired things. The object of the activity was to trade for the foodstuffs that you would want for your picnic. After the picnic was completed, we sat around and watched a few Greek related videos and I would ask questions to the class.
I have also added a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. This was the original presentation that was being used, but was then transferred to Smart Notebook. The material in this presentation is presented differently in Smart Notebook.
